COG133 is a synthetic, small peptide (approximately 10-17 amino acids) derived from the receptor-binding domain of apolipoprotein E (apoE). Developed by Cognosci Inc., it is designed to mimic the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties of the full-length apoE protein. COG133 specifically targets the NMDA receptor to mitigate excitotoxicity and has demonstrated efficacy in animal models of Multiple Sclerosis (EAE), where it reduces relapse rates, total disability, and spinal cord demyelination. It is currently in preclinical development for both relapsing-remitting and progressive forms of Multiple Sclerosis.
