coicis semen

Coicis semen is the dried mature seed of *Coix lacryma-jobi* L. var. mayuen (Roman.) Stapf (family Gramineae), commonly known as coix seed or Job’s tears. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is classified as a herb that relieves dampness and is used to promote diuresis, strengthen the spleen, stop diarrhea, clear heat and expel pus. It is considered sweet and bland in flavor with a slightly cold nature and primarily acts on the spleen, stomach, and lung meridians[3][4][2]. Pharmacologically, it has demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects and may modulate fluid redistribution in the body[3]. The main active components include polysaccharides and oils such as coixenolide; however its precise mechanism of action at a molecular level remains unclear in Western pharmacology.
