Overview

Coixendide + temozolomide is a combination therapy consisting of coixendide, a bioactive compound derived from the seeds of Coix lacryma-jobi (Job's tears) with reported anti-tumor and immunomodulatory properties, and temozolomide, an oral alkylating agent used primarily in the treatment of brain tumors such as glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma. Temozolomide works by methylating DNA at the O6 and N7 positions of guanine, leading to DNA damage that triggers cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in rapidly dividing tumor cells[1][5][6]. The rationale for combining these agents is to potentially enhance anti-tumor efficacy through complementary mechanisms—temozolomide’s direct cytotoxicity via DNA alkylation and coixendide’s possible immunomodulatory or supportive effects. This combination may be under investigation for synergistic effects in oncology settings; however, there is limited published clinical data specifically on this exact combination.
