This is a combination therapy consisting of three drugs—colchicine, dexamethasone, and methylprednisolone. Colchicine is an anti-inflammatory small molecule that disrupts microtubule polymerization by binding to tubulin, thereby inhibiting neutrophil activation and migration. It is primarily used for the treatment and prevention of gout flares, Familial Mediterranean fever, and off-label for conditions such as pericarditis[4][6][7]. Dexamethasone and methylprednisolone are synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroids that act as potent anti-inflammatory agents by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor; they suppress multiple inflammatory pathways including cytokine production. Both are widely used in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The combination of colchicine with corticosteroids (such as dexamethasone or methylprednisolone) has been reported in clinical practice for acute gouty attacks or other severe inflammatory conditions when monotherapy may be insufficient[1][2]. This regimen leverages complementary mechanisms to control inflammation more effectively than single-agent therapy.
