Colchicine Farmasyn

Colchicine Farmasyn is an oral small molecule formulation of the alkaloid colchicine, marketed by the Greek pharmaceutical company Farmasyn. It exerts its therapeutic effect by binding to tubulin dimers, which inhibits their polymerization into microtubules. This disruption of microtubule dynamics interferes with several cellular functions, most notably the chemotaxis, degranulation, and phagocytosis of neutrophils, thereby reducing the inflammatory response. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of acute gout flares and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). It is also utilized in the management of pericarditis, where it helps reduce the risk of recurrence and symptom severity.
