Colchimax

Colchimax is an oral pharmaceutical drug that combines two active ingredients: colchicine and dicycloverine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of acute gout attacks, chronic gout, and familial Mediterranean fever. Colchicine, an alkaloid, exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting microtubule polymerization, which in turn disrupts inflammasome activation, inflammatory cell chemotaxis, and the production of pro-inflammatory mediators like leukotrienes and cytokines. This leads to a significant anti-inflammatory action, particularly by reducing neutrophil motility and activity. Dicycloverine, an anticholinergic agent, is included to mitigate gastrointestinal side effects often associated with colchicine, such as diarrhea, by blocking acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors.
