Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Coldangin is an over-the-counter antiseptic throat lozenge developed by Sigmapharm Arzneimittel. It is formulated as a fixed-dose combination of two active ingredients: 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol (1.5 mg) and amylmetacresol (0.8 mg). Coldangin is indicated for the local treatment of acute inflammatory and catarrhal diseases of the mouth and throat, such as pharyngitis, laryngitis, gingivitis, tonsillitis, and sore throat. The active components act as local antiseptics with broad-spectrum antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Additionally, they exert a mild local anesthetic effect by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, providing rapid relief from throat pain and irritation.
