Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**COLDSORE-FX** is a 2g topical ointment natural health product (NPN 80021252) for treating cold sores (herpes labialis), clinically proven to shorten healing time by an average of 4 days and relieve associated pain.[1][2][6][8] Its key active ingredient is **Propolis ACF** (Antiviral Complex of Flavonoids), a standardized 3% extract (30mg/g, dried herbal equivalent 100mg, 3.3:1 ratio) derived from Canadian propolis collected by honeybees (Apis mellifera) from plant resins.[2][4][6][8] It works via direct virucidal activity against herpes simplex virus, inhibition of viral replication in infected cells, anti-inflammatory and anesthetic effects for pain relief, and stimulation of connective tissue regeneration to accelerate healing; it can be applied at any stage of the cold sore cycle.[8] Non-medicinal ingredients include white petrolatum, heavy mineral oil, lanolin, and ethanol; apply topically 4-6 times daily for adults.[2][8] From the makers of COLD-FX, distributed under license from Lisoma Canada Ltd. by Valeant Canada LP.[6][8]
