Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Coleneuramide is a synthetic small molecule classified as a steroidal glycoside and cholestane amide conjugate. It was developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma and investigated primarily for the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy. The compound acts as a stimulant of beta nerve growth factor (NGF), enhancing NGF-mediated cell survival and tyrosine phosphorylation, likely through direct action on the TrkA receptor. Preclinical studies demonstrated its neuroprotective effects in models of neurotoxicity and diabetic neuropathy, but no results from clinical trials have been reported[1][3][4][5].
