Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Colgate Adult Extra Clean soft-bristle toothbrush brush with 0.76% Na MFP, (1000 ppm F) is a manual toothbrush-and-toothpaste combination intervention developed by Colgate-Palmolive. It consists of the Colgate Adult Extra Clean soft-bristle manual toothbrush used in conjunction with a toothpaste containing 0.76% sodium monofluorophosphate (Na MFP), which delivers 1000 ppm of fluoride. In clinical trials, this combination serves as an active comparator (standard flat-trim manual toothbrush control) to evaluate the efficacy of experimental toothbrushes in reducing whole-mouth bacterial load, plaque, gingivitis, and extrinsic tooth stains. The active ingredient, sodium monofluorophosphate, acts by releasing fluoride ions that integrate into the tooth enamel hydroxyapatite to form fluorapatite, thereby strengthening enamel, inhibiting demineralization, and preventing dental caries.
