Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Colgate Cavity Protection is a standard sodium fluoride-based toothpaste manufactured by Colgate-Palmolive. It contains 0.243% sodium fluoride as its active ingredient and is widely used for the prevention of dental caries and the control of dental plaque and gingivitis. In a clinical study conducted by Loma Linda University, this product served as the conventional toothpaste control arm in a randomized trial comparing it to eco-friendly toothpaste tablets (Colgate Anywhere). The therapeutic effect is mediated by fluoride ions, which promote the remineralization of tooth enamel by forming acid-resistant fluorapatite and inhibit the metabolic activity of cariogenic and plaque-forming bacteria.
