Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Colgate Herbal is a combination toothpaste developed by Colgate-Palmolive, containing 0.243% sodium fluoride in a silica base along with a blend of herbal extracts such as chamomile, sage, myrrh, and eucalyptus. It is indicated for the control of dental plaque and the reduction of gingival inflammation (gingivitis). The sodium fluoride component provides anti-caries protection by promoting the remineralization of tooth enamel and inhibiting bacterial acid production. The herbal extracts are included for their potential antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects on the oral biofilm. The product has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical studies comparing its efficacy against standard fluoride and triclosan/fluoride toothpastes and is currently marketed in over 55 countries.
