Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Extra Protect Fluoride Toothpaste is a topical consumer oral care dentifrice developed by Colgate-Palmolive for the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity and the prevention of dental caries. The formulation is built on proprietary Pro-Argin™ technology, which combines 8% arginine and calcium carbonate to physically occlude exposed dentinal tubules. This creates an acid-resistant, protective plug that blocks external stimuli (such as temperature or sugar) from reaching the nerve, providing rapid and long-lasting relief from sensitivity. The 'Extra Protect' variant is further enhanced with fluoride (typically sodium monofluorophosphate) to remineralize early enamel caries lesions and zinc to strengthen gums and prevent gum-related issues. Clinical research, including randomized controlled trials and intraoral appliance studies, has demonstrated its superior efficacy in sensitivity relief and enamel remineralization compared to traditional potassium- or strontium-based toothpastes.
