Overview

Colibiogen is a naturopathic pharmaceutical product developed by Laves-Arzneimittel GmbH, primarily used for the treatment of intestinal disorders and the support of the immune system. It consists of a cell-free fermentation filtrate derived from the *Escherichia coli* strain Laves 1931 (L1931). This filtrate contains metabolic products such as glycolipids, peptides, fatty acids, and amino acids, along with biotin. It is marketed as a food for special medical purposes (FSMP) for the dietary management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and is also used for inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease and colitis, as well as for post-antibiotic or post-chemotherapy rehabilitation. The product exerts anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory effects on the intestinal mucosa, helping to restore the balance of the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT).
