Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Colifagina is an oral enterovaccine consisting of a polybacterial lysate of eight lysed bacterial strains. Classified as a biologic immunostimulant, it acts by stimulating IgA-mediated mucosal immune defenses within the gastrointestinal tract. It has been investigated for various gastrointestinal conditions, including acute gastroenteritis in children, functional bloating, and recurrent diverticulitis. In clinical studies, it has been evaluated as an adjunct to standard rehydration therapy to reduce the duration and severity of diarrheal episodes, particularly those associated with viral pathogens like astrovirus, rotavirus, and adenovirus.
