Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Coliprotec F18 is a live, oral, monovalent veterinary vaccine for pigs that contains a non-pathogenic Escherichia coli O141:K94 (F18ac) strain and is designed to induce intestinal and systemic immunity against F18-positive enterotoxigenic and Shiga-toxin–producing E. coli, which are key causes of post-weaning diarrhoea and edema disease in swine. Developed originally by Prevtec Microbia and now part of Elanco’s swine portfolio, it is administered as a single-dose oral suspension in drinking water to piglets from around weaning age, providing an antibiotic-sparing strategy to reduce clinical disease, faecal shedding of pathogenic E. coli, and associated production losses in commercial pig operations.[2][4][12]
