Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Collagen-polyvinylpyrrolidone** is a porcine type I collagen-based injectable tissue-repair product formulated with polyvinylpyrrolidone and marketed in Mexico as Fibroquel. It has been investigated as a local regenerative and anti-fibrotic treatment in rheumatoid arthritis, knee osteoarthritis, hypertrophic scars, postmastectomy sequelae, wound-related conditions, and bone-healing disorders. Reported pharmacology includes modulation of collagen turnover and extracellular-matrix remodeling, with reductions in inflammatory and pro-fibrotic mediators observed in preclinical and clinical-tissue studies; however, it does not have a confirmed discrete molecular binding target. Published clinical evidence is limited, including small exploratory studies and a registered randomized knee-osteoarthritis study.
