Overview

**Collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes + tranexamic acid** is a combination of an injectable enzymatic biologic (collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes, marketed as Qwo) and tranexamic acid, an antifibrinolytic small molecule, used off-label with the goal of reducing post-injection bruising in cosmetic treatment of moderate-to-severe cellulite in adult women. Collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes selectively degrades types I and III collagen in fibrous septa responsible for the dimpling appearance of cellulite, while tranexamic acid works by inhibiting plasminogen activation and reducing fibrinolysis and extravasation of blood, theoretically limiting bruising after subcutaneous intervention[3][4].
