Overview

Collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes + antifibrinolytic agent is a theoretical combination of two pharmacological agents: collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes, a purified bacterial enzyme preparation used for the enzymatic disruption of collagen, and a drug from the antifibrinolytic class, which inhibits fibrinolysis (the breakdown of fibrin blood clots). Collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes (marketed as Qwo, developed by Endo Aesthetics) is indicated for injection to treat moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women by disrupting fibrous collagen septae under the skin, resulting in a skin-smoothing effect. Antifibrinolytic agents (such as tranexamic acid, aminocaproic acid) help reduce or prevent excessive bleeding by inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, thereby stabilizing fibrin clots. The combination might be considered to prevent excessive bruising or bleeding at injection sites, but no specific approved product by this exact combination name is currently marketed or described in literature[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
