Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Collagran is a sterile wound care product composed of 100% pure bovine-derived collagen in a granular formulation. It is designed for the management of acute and chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and venous leg ulcers. Collagran functions by providing a natural extracellular matrix (ECM) scaffold that supports the migration and proliferation of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, which are essential for tissue regeneration. Furthermore, the collagen granules act as a sacrificial substrate for matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs); by binding to these proteases, Collagran reduces the excessive proteolytic activity often found in chronic wounds that otherwise degrades growth factors and the endogenous matrix. This dual action helps to transition stagnant wounds into an active healing phase and promotes the formation of healthy granulation tissue.
