Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CollatampG is a sterile, fully absorbable gentamicin-collagen implant used intraoperatively as a local haemostatic and antibiotic delivery device to reduce surgical site infections in high-risk wounds. It consists of a lyophilized matrix of purified bovine type I collagen impregnated with gentamicin sulfate at approximately 2 mg/cm², providing high local aminoglycoside concentrations for at least 72 hours via diffusion and enzymatic degradation of the collagen matrix while the sponge is resorbed over 1–8 weeks depending on the implantation site.[1][3][6][8] The collagen component promotes haemostasis, stabilizes the wound clot, and supports granulation and epithelialization, while locally released gentamicin acts against gentamicin-susceptible bacteria at the surgical wound in cardiac, vascular, orthopaedic, gastrointestinal, colorectal, and other contaminated or dirty procedures as an adjunct to systemic antibiotic prophylaxis.[1][2][3][4][5][6][8][9][10]
