Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Collosun is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical sunscreen cream developed and marketed by Mahakam Beta Farma. It is formulated to protect the skin from the deleterious effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, including both UVA and UVB rays, which are responsible for sunburn (erythema) and premature skin aging (photoaging). The formulation utilizes a synergistic combination of chemical UV filters, such as ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate and oxybenzone, and physical blockers like titanium dioxide. Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate primarily absorbs UVB radiation, while oxybenzone provides broad-spectrum protection by absorbing both UVA and UVB. Titanium dioxide acts as a physical barrier that reflects and scatters UV rays. Furthermore, Collosun contains soluble collagen, which serves as a skin-conditioning and moisturizing agent to help maintain skin elasticity and counteract the drying effects of sun exposure.
