Drug intelligence / Profile preview
COLOSAFE-DSR is a fixed-dose combination medication manufactured by Jointcare Pharmaceuticals, primarily indicated for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. It consists of two active pharmacological agents: rabeprazole sodium and domperidone. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-exchanging ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. Domperidone is a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist with prokinetic properties; it increases lower esophageal sphincter pressure and enhances gastroduodenal motility, thereby facilitating gastric emptying and providing antiemetic effects. This combination is particularly utilized in patients who do not respond adequately to PPI monotherapy, addressing both acid overproduction and impaired gastric motility. It is formulated as a sustained-release capsule for oral administration.
