colossolactone I

Colossolactone I is a naturally occurring triterpenoid isolated from the Vietnamese mushroom *Ganoderma colossum*. It is structurally characterized by a six-membered lactone ring (ring D) and belongs to a family of colossolactone compounds. Research presented at the AACR 2017 meeting evaluated its potential chemotherapeutic effects against various solid tumor cell lines, including breast (MCF-7), cervix (HeLa), colorectal (HCT-116), and liver (HepG2) cancers. In vitro studies demonstrated that colossolactone I possesses weak antioxidant activity and modest cytotoxic properties compared to other members of its class, such as colossolactone IV. It is primarily studied in an academic research context for its potential as a natural product-derived anticancer agent.
