Colossolactone II is a naturally occurring triterpenoid isolated from the Vietnamese mushroom *Ganoderma colossum*. It belongs to a family of colossolactones characterized by the presence of a six-membered lactone ring (ring D) and, in some instances, a seven-membered lactone ring (ring A). Research presented at the AACR 2017 meeting evaluated its potential chemotherapeutic effects against several solid tumor cell lines, including breast (MCF-7), cervix (HeLa), colorectal (HCT-116), and liver (HepG2) cancer cells. While it demonstrated cytotoxic activity in these in vitro models, its potency was generally lower than other related compounds like colossolactone IV. Additionally, it has been shown to possess weak antioxidant activity in DPPH free radical scavenging assays. It is primarily studied in an academic research context for its potential antineoplastic properties.
