colossolactone III

Colossolactone III is a naturally occurring triterpenoid isolated from the Vietnamese mushroom *Ganoderma colossum*. It is structurally characterized by the presence of a six-membered lactone ring (ring D). Research presented at the AACR has evaluated its potential as a chemotherapeutic agent, specifically investigating its antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity against solid tumor cell lines, including breast (MCF-7), cervix (HeLa), colorectal (HCT-116), and liver (HepG2) cancers. While it exhibits weak antioxidant properties (EC50 of approximately 100.81 µM), its cytotoxic potency in early in-vitro studies was found to be lower than other related compounds in the colossolactone family, such as colossolactone IV.
