colquhounia root tablet

Colquhounia root tablet (CRT) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine prepared from the peeled root of Tripterygium hypoglaucum. It has been used for decades in China to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, particularly chronic glomerulopathy and diabetic kidney disease. CRT exhibits anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and analgesic properties. Its mechanisms of action include modulation of immune pathways such as Th17 cell differentiation and C-type lectin receptor signaling; inhibition of the PI3K/AKT pathway via upregulation of PTEN; suppression of CD36 expression; activation of AMPK signaling; promotion of autophagy; and inhibition of apoptosis in renal tissues. Clinical studies have shown that CRT significantly reduces proteinuria in patients with chronic glomerulopathy (including IgA nephropathy, membranous nephropathy, and diabetic kidney disease), with a favorable safety profile[1][3][8].
