Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Colzen is a biocompatible bioactive wound dressing developed by Silvestre Labs, a subsidiary of the Axis Biotec Group. It is composed of a synergistic combination of type I collagen, calcium alginate, and cerium nitrate. The dressing is indicated for the management of various wound types, including burns, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and surgical wounds. Its mechanism of action involves collagen promoting granulation and epithelialization, calcium alginate managing exudate by forming a moist gel, and cerium nitrate providing antimicrobial control. Colzen transforms into a transparent gel upon contact with the wound bed, which facilitates pain-free dressing changes and allows for continuous monitoring of the healing process. It is typically replaced every 72 hours and has intellectual property protection in multiple international markets.
