CombiCoR-Vax is an investigational sequential immunochemotherapy regimen developed by the IRCCS Istituto Romagnolo per lo Studio dei Tumori (IRST) "Dino Amadori" for the treatment of refractory microsatellite-stable (MSS) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The treatment strategy involves an induction phase with the PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor pembrolizumab and an autologous dendritic cell vaccine loaded with tumor-associated antigens. This is followed by a maintenance phase consisting of the chemotherapy combination trifluridine/tipiracil and the anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody bevacizumab. The regimen aims to overcome the inherent immunoresistance of MSS colorectal tumors by priming the immune system with cellular immunotherapy before transitioning to standard-of-care cytotoxic and anti-angiogenic therapies. This approach is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 multicenter trial.
