Overview

**Combined antioxidant therapy** is an investigational intravenous fixed-dose combination developed by **Universidad de Chile** for cardioprotection against acute myocardial infarction-associated reperfusion injury. It combines deferoxamine, an iron chelator intended to limit iron-catalyzed oxidative damage; acetylcysteine, a glutathione precursor and reactive-oxygen-species scavenger; and ascorbic acid, a reducing antioxidant. The combination was evaluated in a randomized Phase I study in healthy volunteers to characterize safety and pharmacokinetics before potential use during percutaneous coronary angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction.
