Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Combined prandial insulin therapy (CPIT) is a therapeutic regimen developed by University Hospital Hradec Kralove for the management of type 1 diabetes mellitus. It involves the simultaneous subcutaneous injection of a rapid-acting insulin analogue (insulin aspart) and a short-acting human insulin (Actrapid) in specific ratios (3:1, 1:1, or 1:3) tailored to the glycemic index of the meal. This approach is designed to mimic the dual-wave or square-wave bolus delivery of an insulin pump, providing a more precise match between insulin action and carbohydrate absorption to improve postprandial glycemic control.
