Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The COMBO Plus is a second-generation dual therapy stent (DTS) designed for the treatment of coronary artery disease. It represents a unique drug-device combination that integrates pro-healing and anti-restenotic technologies. The stent features a circumferential coating of murine monoclonal anti-human CD34 antibodies, which are designed to capture circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) from the bloodstream to promote rapid endothelialization and vessel wall repair. Simultaneously, it utilizes an abluminal coating of sirolimus (an mTOR inhibitor) embedded in a biodegradable polymer to inhibit smooth muscle cell proliferation and prevent neointimal hyperplasia. This dual mechanism aims to provide the efficacy of a drug-eluting stent while potentially reducing the risk of late stent thrombosis and allowing for a shorter duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT).
