Combogesic IV

Combogesic IV is an intravenous fixed-dose combination analgesic containing acetaminophen (1000 mg) and ibuprofen (300 mg). Developed by AFT Pharmaceuticals and distributed in the United States by Hikma Pharmaceuticals, it is indicated for the management of mild-to-moderate pain and as an adjunct to opioid analgesics for moderate-to-severe pain in adults. Acetaminophen provides analgesia through central mechanisms, while ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis. The product received FDA approval in October 2023 and is marketed internationally under the brand name Maxigesic IV. It is currently undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation for use in pediatric populations.
