Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Comcapsy** is an oral fixed-dose antineoplastic combination of capecitabine and cyclophosphamide. Capecitabine is an orally administered fluoropyrimidine prodrug that is converted to 5-fluorouracil and primarily inhibits thymidylate synthase, impairing nucleotide production and DNA synthesis. Cyclophosphamide is a prodrug alkylating agent that is metabolically activated to DNA-crosslinking metabolites. The combination has been studied using intermittent and continuous metronomic schedules for metastatic breast cancer, including heavily pretreated disease. Intas Pharmaceuticals developed and markets the tablet-in-tablet fixed-dose product Comcapsy in India, including 400 mg/20 mg and 700 mg/30 mg capecitabine/cyclophosphamide tablet strengths.
