Drug intelligence / Profile preview
COMP360 is a proprietary, synthesized formulation of psilocybin developed by Compass Pathways. It is under investigation as a potential first-in-class treatment for certain difficult-to-treat mental health conditions, most notably treatment-resistant depression (TRD), when administered with psychological support. Psilocybin is a serotonergic psychedelic that acts primarily as an agonist at serotonin 5-HT2 receptors. Clinical studies have shown that a single administration of 25 mg COMP360 can produce rapid and durable reductions in depressive symptoms in patients with TRD. The drug has also been studied in other psychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anorexia nervosa. COMP360 has received Breakthrough Therapy designation from the US FDA and Innovative Licensing and Access Pathway (ILAP) designation in the UK for TRD[1][2][4][5][6][7][8][9].
