Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Composite potassium hydrogen phosphate injection is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution containing potassium dihydrogen phosphate and dipotassium hydrogen phosphate. It is primarily used as a phosphorus supplement in total parenteral nutrition (TPN) therapy for patients who are unable to receive enteral nutrition, such as those undergoing major surgery or suffering from severe trauma requiring fasting for more than five days. It is also indicated for the correction of hypophosphatemia (low phosphorus levels) caused by various clinical conditions. The injection provides essential phosphate ions, which are crucial for intracellular energy metabolism, bone mineralization, and buffering systems, as well as potassium ions, which are vital for maintaining intracellular osmotic pressure and acid-base balance.
