Overview
Compound 069 is an experimental chalcone-based small molecule inhibitor primarily investigated for its potent anticancer activity against ovarian cancer. It functions as a thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) inhibitor, which leads to the accumulation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the subsequent induction of apoptosis. Research has demonstrated its efficacy in inhibiting the proliferation of ovarian cancer cell lines, such as A2780, including those that exhibit resistance to standard chemotherapy. The compound was identified and optimized through 3D-QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship) modeling and has shown promise in preclinical studies for addressing late-stage gynecological malignancies.
