Overview

Compound 12e is a selective adenosine A2A receptor ligand developed as a potential bronchospasmolytic agent for the treatment of asthma. It belongs to a series of aldehyde derivatives of 1,3-dipropyl xanthines. In preclinical evaluations, compound 12e demonstrated potent binding affinity for the A2A receptor subtype (Ki = 0.036 µM) and showed significant in vivo activity against histamine-induced asthma in guinea pig models. Chemically, it is characterized as a monosubstituted 3-aminoalkoxyl 8-phenyl xanthine with an aminodiethyl moiety. The compound was developed by researchers at L.L.R.M. Medical College in India.
