Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound 16b is a novel benzimidazothiazole-thiazole hybrid that has demonstrated potent anticancer activity, specifically against colon cancer. In preclinical evaluations using the HCT-116 colon carcinoma cell line, compound 16b showed a significant cytotoxic effect with an IC50 of 4.31 μM, which is more effective than the reference drug doxorubicin. Molecular docking studies indicate that the compound interacts with the protein target NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), forming stable hydrogen bonds and π-type interactions. In silico ADMET analysis suggests that compound 16b possesses high oral absorption and a favorable safety profile, with no predicted skin sensitization, making it a promising lead for further development as a targeted therapy for colon cancer.
