Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound 26, also known as MMP118, is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-12 (MMP-12). It is being developed for the potential treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. MMP-12 is a key proteolytic enzyme implicated in airway remodeling, elastin destruction, and aberrant remodeling of damaged alveoli in these inflammatory lung diseases. Compound 26 has demonstrated excellent oral efficacy in mouse models of MMP-12 induced ear-swelling inflammation and lung inflammation.
