Overview

Compound 2z is a membrane-active N,N'-diarylurea derivative developed as an antibacterial agent targeting multidrug-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA) infections [1]. Synthesized as part of a library of 65 diarylurea derivatives, compound 2z was identified as the most potent candidate in a *Galleria mellonella* infection model [1]. It exhibits strong bactericidal activity against both planktonic and persister cells, disrupts established biofilms, and has demonstrated significant therapeutic efficacy in a murine peritonitis model [1]. Compound 2z exerts its antibacterial effects by disrupting the bacterial cell membrane (affecting membrane permeability, depolarization, and fluidity) without inducing resistance even after serial passages [1].
