Overview

Compound 4207 is a novel small molecule arylpiperazine-sulphonamide derivative being investigated for its neuroprotective properties in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Developed based on research described in patent WO 2016/051155 A1, the compound has demonstrated the ability to significantly improve cell viability in SH-SY5Y cell models of dopaminergic degeneration. Its mechanism involves protecting neurons against multiple pathogenic pathways, including mitochondrial dysfunction induced by MPP+ and impaired protein clearance induced by the proteasome inhibitor lactacystin. By targeting these underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, compound 4207 is being explored as a potential disease-modifying therapy for neurodegenerative conditions.
