"Compound 9k" refers to multiple distinct experimental small molecules identified in medicinal chemistry literature. One version is a 3-arylindanone-based tubulin inhibitor that binds to the colchicine site, disrupting microtubule assembly and exhibiting potent antiproliferative effects against colorectal cancer (HCT 116), cervical cancer (HeLa), and ovarian cancer (A2780) cell lines. Another version is a matrine aminophosphonate derivative that functions as a potent myeloid cell leukemia-1 (Mcl-1) inhibitor, inducing apoptosis in cervical cancer (HeLa) cells through reactive oxygen species (ROS) elevation and mitochondrial membrane potential dissipation. Both compounds are currently in the preclinical stage of development and have demonstrated antitumor activity in various in vitro and in vivo models, though neither has progressed to clinical trials.
