Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound A2 is a novel selenium-containing derivative of flutamide, a non-steroidal antiandrogen used in the treatment of prostate cancer. Developed as part of a series of Se-flutamide analogs, Compound A2 is designed to enhance antiproliferative activity against both androgen receptor (AR)-dependent and AR-independent prostate cancer cell lines. In preclinical studies, it has demonstrated potent inhibitory effects on LNCaP (AR-dependent), DU-145, and PC-3 (AR-independent) cells. Its mechanism of action involves the antagonism of the androgen receptor and the potential induction of regulated cell death pathways, such as apoptosis and cell cycle arrest, offering a broader therapeutic potential than conventional flutamide.
