Overview

Compound anisodine is a pharmaceutical drug that is a combination preparation containing anisodine hydrobromide and procaine hydrochloride. Anisodine hydrobromide, a tropane alkaloid derived from Anisodus tanguticus, acts as a muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist and an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It also possesses vasodilatory properties and improves microcirculation. Procaine hydrochloride contributes antioxidant and neuroprotective activities. The drug is primarily used in China for various ophthalmic conditions, including ischemic optic neuropathy, retinopathy, choroidopathy, and glaucoma, by regulating the vegetative nervous system, improving microcirculation, relieving vasospasm, increasing blood flow, and protecting optic nerves.
