Overview

Compound B4 is a novel selenium-containing derivative of flutamide (a Se-flutamide analog) investigated for its potential in treating prostate cancer. It belongs to a series of selenoderivatives designed to improve upon the efficacy of flutamide, particularly against androgen receptor (AR)-independent cell lines. In preclinical studies, Compound B4 demonstrated significant antiproliferative activity against both AR-dependent (LNCaP) and AR-independent (DU-145 and PC-3) prostate cancer cells. Its mechanism of action is primarily linked to androgen receptor antagonism, inherited from its parent compound flutamide, while the selenium moiety likely enhances its ability to induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.
