Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound borax mouthwash is an over-the-counter (OTC) antiseptic oral rinse formulated with borax, sodium bicarbonate, phenol, and glycerol. It is primarily used for oral disinfection and the treatment of oral inflammatory conditions such as stomatitis, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis. Within the formulation, borax and phenol act as non-specific antiseptic and disinfectant agents to inhibit pathogenic microorganisms. Sodium bicarbonate serves as an alkalinizing and buffering agent, while glycerol acts as a demulcent to protect the oral mucosa and soothe irritation. Together, these components help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and maintain oral hygiene.
