Overview
Compound Danshen injection (also known as Xiangdan injection) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) injection widely used in China for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It is prepared from the aqueous extracts of Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen) and Dalbergia odorifera (Jiangxiang). The injection contains multiple active components, including danshensu, salvianolic acids, and protocatechuic aldehyde, which exert synergistic anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and microcirculation-improving effects. It has been evaluated in clinical trials, including a Phase II study by Wuhan General Hospital of Guangzhou Military, for its potential to reduce radiotherapy-related adverse reactions in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
