Compound fructose electrolyte injection is a parenteral fluid and electrolyte replacement therapy containing fructose as a carbohydrate source alongside essential electrolytes. Developed by Shanghai Zhizhen Biotechnology, it is primarily indicated for balanced fluid therapy in patients in the early postoperative period, such as those recovering from bone trauma surgery. Fructose is utilized as an energy source that is metabolized largely independently of insulin, which is advantageous in the metabolic stress and insulin-resistant states often observed after major surgery. The electrolyte component, typically comprising sodium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride, serves to maintain osmotic pressure, fluid volume, and acid-base balance. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China to establish its safety and efficacy compared to glucose-based electrolyte solutions like MG3.
