Compound menthol ointment is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical combination drug developed and manufactured by Shanghai Xiao Fang Pharmaceutical (under the brand name Xinlong) and other manufacturers such as Mentholatum. The ointment contains a mixture of active ingredients including menthol, camphor, methyl salicylate, turpentine oil, and eucalyptus oil. It is indicated for the relief of nasal congestion caused by colds, insect bites, chapped skin, minor burns and scalds, abrasions, sunburn, and skin itching. The active components work synergistically to provide antibacterial, analgesic, antipruritic, and cooling effects, promoting the healing of skin lacerations and relieving localized discomfort.
